Piano Olympics:

The Olympics is an annual fall event focusing on performance of technique, including playing scales, chords, cadences and arpeggios. Ribbons and medals are awarded.  The 2024 Piano Olympics will be held on November 9, 2024.

State Theory and Sight Reading Test:

The State Theory test is a written and aural exam ranging from levels Primer- 12. The Sight-reading test is a question/answer test of two separate piano pieces followed by a sight-reading of the two pieces. This uniform statewide test to be administered in February is required for the participation in the Eastern District Auditions. 

The Peninsula Music Teachers Association (PMTA) will be partnering with the Tidewater Music Teachers Forum to administer the Theory Test.

Music Marathon:

Students, teachers and friends offer a variety of music at a local mall to raise funds for our PMTA Scholarship program and additional enrichment events.

The Music Marathon will be held at Patrick Henry Mall on April 26 and 27, 2025.

PMTA Scholarship Audition:

A college scholarship is presented annually to a graduating senior majoring in music and additional scholarships for underclassmen attending summer music camps.
